Archive Editing footage

Not only do we want to interview Levi Roots for out documentary we also want to add some archive footage of his begining. Myself and Amir found some archive footage of Levi's auditiong on dragons den and spent the time after school to edit this footage adding in some voices over.

We edited the video where Levi sings his theme tune for the sauce in which we had it fade out after a few second in the footage after the music stops we added a few voice overs thoughout the sequence which tell the audeince short facts about Levi Roots and his first audtion. We tryed to time each voice over so that it matches what is happening in the clip.

Amir and I wrote a script for this archive footage which we used for the voice overs, we tryed to make the script sounds as professional as possible. The script was as followed

(Starts with Levi Roots' entrace to dragons den. He walks up that stairs singing and the music fades out after 12 seconds)

Singing his way to success, Levi Roots first appeared on The BBC television show Dragons Den in 2006.

His pitch was to raise a £50,000 investment for a %20 share in his product, Reggae Reggae Sauce, which was made from a secret recipe, passed down from his grand mother.

Two of the Dragons, Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh were both enticed by Levi's Pitch

After receiving the investment that Levi was looking for, his life changed dramatically, and we want to know, just how far Levi's career has progressed

(fades to black titles roll)

Here are some photos of Amir and myself editing our footage as evidence of our research, editing and planning.

Here is the Archive footage Amir and I have editied including the voiceover. we will use this sequences as the opening to our documentary.

Prezi

Amir and I thought that we should make a prezi to show some of fascinating information about Levi. Our media teacher informaed us of the website and said that it would bee a good idea, the only problem was, was that neither of us had created a prezi before. we created one together after school one day below are some screen shots that we took to use as evidence of our planning and research.

Below is our first attempt of a prezi:

Levi Roots

After some long hard thinking, we decided on doing none of the options we had discussed as another even better idea came to us. Levi roots. Many know Levi Roots from the television programme Drangons Den, whcih is where Levi First started. The Idea Levi Roots came to us when Amir was telling me about the storys of which celebrity he had met and Levi Roots came into it. We both thought immediately, Levi Roots Making of Mogal. Luckly For us Amir's Mother Knows Levi's PR and was able to call on our behalf and ask if he would be interested in answering a few questions for us so we can look into rise to fame Levi Experianced. Fortunatley Levi Agreed to do an interview. No date has been set yet but it will be during the October month which is perfect us, giving us time to plan our questions and shots and draw up a few storyboards to set it all out.

Amir has previously met Levi Roots at a gathering he went to with his Parents. We both believe that this documentary will be an indepth look into the life of Levi Roots.

Below is a clip from the episode in which Levi Roots appeared on Dragens Den

Documentary Ideas

Whilst in class Amir and I had the chance to discuss ideas for our documentary, in which we are to create and film as our final media project. We came up with all sorts of ideas but no of them stood out to either of us as we wanted to do something that would really test our media skills and ability. Here were a few of our ideas that we both discussed in class:

• A mockmentary based on short task people take part in order to gain a laugh. We got the idea from the TV show called Balls of Steel, but this idea will not be like a programme but more about documenting this funny events.

• A documentary showing to what extent the media influences our body images. we choose this as an idea as it has become increasingly popular in the news over the past couple of years and thought that we would be able to research the subject very deeply and find what has happened and what is being done about the issue.

• Recent topics, such as Swine flu, recent wars. These topics would appeal to most audiences as they are what have been apearing in the news recently but have the oppurtunity to be researched into more detail.

Documentary Project

For our media Project we have been asked to get into groups and create a small documentary lasting no longer than 5 minutes. The documentary can be based on anything we choose so in our groups we have to decide the topic, arrange the dates, film to docuemntary and edit it. It is a little simmular to our project we had in AS, but we have a little more freedom as to what we can do. I am Working with Amir choudhury who i worked with when creating our thriller project. I think that Amir and myself Will work well together as we both have the same amount of experiance seen as niether of us took media GCSE but both took it AS level this gives us the chance to both grow and adapt our media skills.

Documentaries over summer

Over summer i watched a variety of documentaries, ranging from tragic events to people's adventures. the most recent documentary i watched was 9/11 I was there. It was a documentary i found on sky's anytime service and was created for the audiences to meet the people caught up in the terror attacks of 9/11. This documentary contains a poetic yet expository style as it shows the real emotions and feelings of the unfortunate victims of the attacks as well as exposes the real information as to what actually happened. Unfortunately i was unable to find any clips available to post on my blog but found some images as shown below of a photographer who starred in the documentary named David Handschuh that was photographing the unfortunate event.

Another Documentary that i had watched over summer was one about the world's tiniest girl named Charlotte. It was a documentary aired on channel five and followed the lives of Charlotte and her family and how they have coped with Charlotte's rare condition whihc will enable her to grow no taller than 2ft. Charlotte is the youngest out of 4 children aged 2 and has a rare form of primordial dwarfism. The documentary is an observational documentary that follows the family and exposes their issues. The documentary overall gives off an emotional effect and makes the audience feel the emotions that the family has felt all through the sppech and interviews with the parents.

Below is the trailer for the documentary aired on channel five:
